My Facebook Life Year 2010 Status Updates

We’ve been dumping information on Facebook for years (well, for me it has been 557 days according to the Status Statistics application), but searching for and saving our own information is sometimes difficult.

I’m sure there will be new applications coming out, and I’ve used a few recently in my efforts to document my 2010 on Facebook.

The first was My Year in Status, which gives a collage of statuses for the year–you can let the application randomly choose statuses, or you can select a few for your collage.

The second application I used was Status Statistics which gave me information on how many words I used, when I generally posted, most common words, etc.  Also, It has a very nifty feature of being able to search status updates.  You can also list your status updates by month.

The third application I used was My Status in Year.  This application listed all the Status Updates for the Year on colorful paper of your choosing.  However, I couldn’t figure out an easy way to copy or print out the Updates.

What I really wanted was to be able to copy and save my status updates. So, I did something very putzy.  I copied each month from the Status Statistics application, pasted them into a Word document and cleaned it up (search and replace was very useful for eliminating the “see comments” after every post).

However, NONE of these applications showed posts in which I had added a link or photos or video! If the link was written in the status update, it did get included, but if I had attached a link it didn’t.  Very disappointing!  My most important post of the year did not show up!  Here is a screen shot of that post:

This post connected the kidney recipient to the donor!  But, apparently because I included a link, this post was not included in my status history.

Even without the posts which had attachments, I still had quite a few posts for the year:  173!

Here’s my Facebook Life in 2010 Status Updates:
